An associate in the real estate practice group, Kyle Binns is developing a practice in all aspects of commercial real estate, representing lenders, borrowers, developers, office building owners, retail center owners, and retail and office tenants in a wide variety of real estate matters, including loan purchases, loan workouts, foreclosures, lease negotiations, land sales, apartment acquisitions, and research involving complex condemnation and real estate finance issues. Mr. Binns also devotes a portion of his time to the corporate practice group.
Recently, Mr. Binns has worked on numerous real estate matters in Missouri and Kansas involving loans purchased by a client from the FDIC as part of a large loan portfolio. These matters have included commercial and residential foreclosures, extensive title review, creditor representation in Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases, and related litigation matters. In addition, Mr. Binns has been primarily responsible for handling all legal matters related to a client's construction equipment leasing portfolio, including negotiation of servicing arrangements, vehicle titling issues, repossessions, account collection, and documentation of sales and new leases.
Prior to joining Lewis, Rice & Fingersh, and while in Business School and Law School at the University of Kansas, Mr. Binns worked in the lending department at Douglas County Bank in Lawrence as a credit analyst. The experience of participating in loan committee meetings and analyzing client financial statements provided him with a unique understanding of banking and other clients’ business considerations and perspectives, and allows him to better serve those clients’ legal needs.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Binns actively participates in recruiting activities for the Kansas City office and administers LRF’s real estate blog, Possessio.
